Top Swiss club comes to the Dolomites Cup

Numerous teams from Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Norway, Italy, France and Switzerland have taken part in the ice hockey tournament over the past 14 years. Well-known teams used the tournament in Neumarkt to prepare for the season. Next year the Dolomites Cup will also be held in the modern Würtarena in Neumarkt.

EHC Biel will be taking part in the tournament for the first time this year. The Swiss had reached the semi-finals of the Swiss National League A in each of the past two years. The Bielers were also on the verge of reaching the semi-finals in the Champions Hockey League this year. The Biel team won the first leg 3-2 away from the current Champions Hockey League winner Frölunda Göteborg. In the second leg, the hosts led at home until shortly before the end of the game before the Swedes equalized and then fixed Biel's 3-5 defeat in extra time.

Stars in coach Antti Törmänen's team are former NHL goalkeeper Jonas Hiller, Anssi Salmela, Beat Forster, Damien Brunner, Luca Cunti, Jason Fuchs, Yannick Rathgeb, Anton Gustafsson, Toni Rajala, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, David Ullström, Mike Künzle and the Austrian Peter Schneider.

The EHC Biel celebrated its greatest successes with the championship title in 1978, 1981 and 1983. In the last two years, the EHC made it into the semi-finals of the NLA.

EHC Biel is currently the second team that will take part in the International Dolomites Cup this year. The defending champions and five-time tournament winners, Augsburger Panther, were the first team to be signed. The other participants will be defined in the coming weeks.

The Dolomites Cup 2020 will be held in the Würtarena from August 21st to 23rd.

The EHC Biel is taking part in the 15th International Dolomites Cup in Neumarkt. The Swiss club made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions Hockey League this year.
