Serie A: The Pirates fight for a seventh game

In the last home game of the quarter-final series, the Pirates were able to rely on the support of more than 1.000 spectators, who at times transformed the home ice rink into a cauldron. In the early stages, the hosts were pushed deep in front of their own goal due to being outnumbered. When they were able to operate with five men again, they stepped on the accelerator and were promptly rewarded with the opening goal. Waldner successfully completed a quick counterattack. Afterwards, Asiago failed several times due to Vallini's brilliant performance, while on the other side every shot led to a goal. So Vallerand Marozzi lost out again in the tenth minute. Afterwards, the Asiago end made room for substitute Tura for a short time, only to replace him again at the next break. However, this move bore no fruit, on the contrary: Lacroix increased the lead to 3-0 before the first break.

Asiago wakes up At the beginning of the middle period, Asiago threw everything forward, but Vallini repeatedly stood in the way of the opponent's attack. This was also the case in the 24th minute when he thwarted two top-class chances from Ulmer. Eppan gave up the reins in this phase of the game, allowing the guests to reduce the lead to 1:3. Nigro did much better than Ulmer had just done and successfully completed a solo.

Eppan saves the lead over time

After the last break, Asiago punished itself through its indiscipline and lack of concentration. With double the advantage, De Hart used the available space to shoot from a distance. Tobias Ebner gave his shot the decisive change in direction. After Eppan's fourth goal, tempers continued to heat up: first Raffeiner put Magnabosco out of action with a check, then HCE striker Hazen was brought down alone in front of the opponent's goal, even though Asiago was playing with one more man at that moment. Hazen converted the penalty without any effort. Miglioranzi then took advantage of the Asiago power play and restored the three-goal gap. After that, Lefebvre's team let the reins slide a bit, allowing the guests to build tension again. Bentivoglio reduced the score to 3:5 seven minutes before the end before Ulmer also scored and reduced the deficit to just one goal. At this point, however, there were only 17 seconds left until the end. Eppan finally managed to keep the narrow lead over time.

HC Eppan celebrated their third success in the quarter-final series against Asiago and thus forced a decisive seventh game, which will take place on Saturday in Veneto. The Überetscher won at home 5:4.
