Huge surprise in the Weihenstephan Arena in Sterzing, where EV Bozen celebrated a 4:3 win. The match started palely with a period of pressure from the home team, but the people of Bolzano took the lead: Stanislav Jasecko scored 1-0 in the majority. Vipiteno didn't give up despite conceding a goal, but Platè was at his post. It wasn't until the 17th minute of the game that Gunnar Braito - also with one more man on the ice - was able to defeat him. Val Gardena was still missing captain Fabrizio Senoner, while attacker Marco Senoner returned to the team. Former Pergine striker Michele Ciresa made his home debut at Merano, while Michael Stocker and Massimo Ansoldi were missing due to injuries. Because no further goals were scored in regular time, the game went into extra time. There was no goal there either, so it went to a shootout, where Kaltern's Raphael Andergassen sank the decisive penalty.
