HC Eppan equalized the semi-final series with Milan, thanks to a double comeback and the subsequent victory in the penalty shootout. The “Pirates” had to do without the injured Matthias Eisenstecken and the suspended Robert Raffeiner in the home game. For the guests, however, Kimmo Pikkarainen had to pass due to a suspension. Coach Da Rin again preferred Terrazzano over Della Bella between the posts. The Milan goalkeeper was hardly tested in the starting third, but his counterpart Demetz was the focus shortly before the siren when he had to reach behind himself for a shot from Tommaso Migliore. At the time of the opening goal, Rottensteiner and Constant were sitting in the penalty box. The middle section was also poor in exciting goal scenes, although Eppan now played more courageously forward. After the second break, things really got going: eight minutes before the end, Eppan equalized through top scorer Peter Campbell, but only a short time later Marcello Borghi restored Milan's lead. This provided the first highlight after 2.20:13 minutes with Neumarkt's opening goal. At this point, Val Gardena was operating with one less man on the ice.
