Serie A2 final: Val Gardena strikes back impressively

A heated atmosphere awaited both teams at the Pranives Stadium, fueled by the fact that HC Gherdeina needed the full support of their fans to bounce back from Milan in the final series. The home team had to do without the suspended Derek Eastman, but the recently injured Meikol Moroder and Ivan Demetz returned to the team. Guest coach Da Rin, on the other hand, was able to field his best team.

Milan set the tone in the first few minutes of the game, but it didn't take long until Val Gardena took the reins and fired the first warning shot with Kevin Senoner. After 11.11:3 minutes, Rupert Stampfer from Val Gardena scored the first goal of the evening in the power play. Shortly afterwards, Manuel Lo Presti missed a huge opportunity. When Milan was able to operate with one more man, the Ladins struck again with two quick counterattacks: Ivan Demetz and Stampfer made it 0-XNUMX in the “penalty killing”. It was only in the second third that Milan found their way back into the game and, with Luca Ansoldi, came dangerously close to the hosts' goal. A little later, the striker from Meran was sitting in the cooler when his teammate Peter Klouda launched a quick counterattack and ultimately failed to hit the post. Val Gardena then took control of the game again. The only upset in the final phase of the second third was caused by Peter Wunderer, who missed a good opportunity.

The final third was less than four minutes old when Thomas Spinell increased the score to 4-0 after a pass from Schaafsma and Wallenberg. Milan subsequently tried hard and tried to at least score a consolation goal with quick counterattacks, but Val Gardena was always in control of the encounter. The Kostner team performed in the style of a top team and managed to make it 4-0 safely over time. Val Gardena thus achieved its first win of the season in the eighth direct duel against Milan. The third final game will take place on Friday at the Agorà Stadium in Milan.
