However, coach Erwin Kostner's team withstood the home team's aggressive style of play for long stretches and repeatedly became dangerous even through quick counter-attacks. Thanks to an overtime goal from Pikkarainen, Milan has taken the lead again in the play-off series against Eppan. The Yellow-Blues were missing David Ceresa (3 game suspension) and the injured Juha Pekka Loikas, who had to watch the last match in Überetsch. From then on, there was little to be seen of the Milan team's usual home strength. Although both teams repeatedly appeared dangerous in front of the opposing goalkeepers, neither of them were able to convert the opportunities that presented themselves into goals. Both Terrazzano on the one hand and Demetz on the other locked their cases throughout the entire regular playing time. So both teams had to go into overtime. Nothing changed in the game at first: both teams acted extremely cautiously and rarely caused danger. It was only after a few minutes that Milan felt their way in front of the Eppan goal. After 66.16 minutes, the first and decisive goal of the encounter came: the advanced defender Kimmo Pikkarainen secured the 1-0 victory for Milan.
