HC Neumarkt lived up to its role as favorite in the South Tyrolean derby against Kaltern and won easily with 4-1 goals. With this victory, the “Wildgänse” extend their lead in the table over the chasing duo Eppan and Milan to seven points. Kaltern, on the other hand, is still in crisis: today's defeat was the tenth in the last eleven championship games. Both teams had to make do without four regular players: the hosts were without Giovannini, Raphael and Alex Andergassen as well as Frei, while Neumarkt had to do without Zelger, Ciresa, Peiti and Alex Sullman. The Unterlanders got off to a dream start: in the 12.23 minute Domenico Perna gave the guests the lead, just 45 seconds later Federico Gilmozzi increased the score to 2-0. Kaltern reacted and reduced the score to 1:2 in the starting third with new acquisition Ladislav Benysek. For the Czech, who became Italian champions with Asiago last year, it was the first goal in the Kalter jersey. In the middle and final third, Neumarkt controlled the encounter and scored twice more in the 31.19:4 minute with Steve Pellettier and in the final minute with Perna to make the final score 1-25. Erwin Kostner, the Ladin team's coach, had to make do without the suspended Fabrizio Senoner and Patrick Wallenberg as well as Gabriel Vinatzer and Spinell, while the Trentino side were missing Fontanive and new acquisition Jackson. The Merano coach Doug McKay had to watch his team's South Tyrolean derby away against EV Bozen from the stands. After he climbed into the Ladin bench during the game against Val Gardena last week, he was banned for two match days by the sports judge. Nevertheless, his team won today away from bottom team EV Bozen with 3-1 goals and consolidated 5th place in the table. The Merano team competed without Quagliato, Huber and Kobler, while only Lotti was missing from Bozen. Surprisingly, Dominik Steinmann was in the Merano goal in front of his farm team partner Vipiteno. Another loan player from Vipiteno, Alex Lanz, gave the guests the lead in the 15.10 minute. In the middle third Alex Rottensteiner increased the score to 2-0. Then Meran was unable to take advantage of four power plays, thanks to some brilliant saves from Martino Valle Da Rin. But Oliver Schenk managed to score the third goal in the 33.48 minute. In the final third the home team reduced the score to 1:3 with Tuomo Harjula, but it was no longer enough. Meran celebrated another victory after three defeats in a row.
