At the start of the semi-final series, Val Gardena caused a big surprise and defeated the first team in the regular season 4-1 away. At Neumarkt, the recovered top performer Domenico Perna returned to the team; Virta had to watch as a supernumerary foreigner. The guests, however, had to make do without Ivan Demetz and Fabio Kostner. At the start of the game, Val Gardena took the scepter into their hands before Neumarkt's Zambaldi and Ciresa put striker Michael Sullmann into the spotlight and he struck ice-cold in the 5th minute. As a result, the Ladins seemed to be struggling and were unable to convert even two outnumbered situations into goals. At the beginning of the middle third, however, the equalizer was in the air. After several missed chances, Kevin Senoner scored to make it 1-1. Now the spell was finally broken for coach Erwin Kostner's protégés: Patrick Wallenberg increased the score to 33-2 when they were outnumbered in the 1rd minute, before Rupert Stampfer went one better immediately after the second half-time tea. As a result, the Val Gardena team took an extremely disciplined approach and gave Neumarkt no chance to turn the tables again. On the contrary: After the Unterlanders failed to capitalize on two power plays in the final minutes, Derek Eastman made the decision with a shot into the empty goal. HC Gherdeina's 4-1 away coup was therefore over.

Milan retained the upper hand 4-1 in the first play-off match against Eppan. For the second time in a row, the Lombards had to move to the Tazzoli Stadium in Turin due to a pitch closure. HC Eppan was a guest there on Friday evening at the start of the semi-final series. Both teams had to select one player each: Milan for Pikkarainen, who was suspended for two games, and Eppan for Ironsticken, who was injured. After an initial fumble, Peruzzo provided the first highlight with a 1-0 win for Milan. The Überetscher then weakened themselves with a game-time disciplinary penalty from Raffeiner. The Da-Rin troop took advantage of the following advantage situation to increase the score to 2-0 through LoPresti. While events began to happen rapidly from half of the first third onwards, the middle section was all the less eventful. Both teams were only able to appear in front of the opposing goal sporadically and therefore rarely caused any danger. In the final section, Eppan really got on track and suddenly pushed for the next goal. This finally happened in the 44.41 minute, when Tobias Ebner gave Milan goalie Terrazzano the disadvantage for the first time. However, there was only real tension in the Tazzoli Stadium for about two and a half minutes before Peter Wunderer restored the hosts' two-goal lead. After 52.34 minutes, Milan's number 92 crossed in front of goalkeeper Demetz again and gave him the advantage for the fourth time. Now the resistance of the South Tyroleans was finally broken. Milan ultimately played the 4-1 skillfully over time.
