Serie B: Eight of 16 teams come from South Tyrol

The result is impressive, because with the confirmations of Alexander and Michael Sullmann, Paolo Bustreo, Manuel Bertignoll, Matteo Peiti and Enrico Dorigatti, coach Martin Ekrt has players at his disposal who can decide games single-handedly at any time. The Unterlanders have also specifically strengthened their attack with Patrick Zambaldi (comeback), Markus Simonazzi (Auer) and Florian Wieser (Sterzing). On the other hand, many players have left the club. Among the departures, Flavio Faggioni and Manuel Lo Presti (both Meran), Rudi Locatin (Fiemme), Christian Willeit (Pustertal) and Thomas Tragust (Fassa) stand out. Merano: Coach Massimo Ansoldi's young team, which made it to the semi-finals of the play-offs last year, wants to establish itself as the top team in Serie B this year. But the biggest exclamation point was the return of the “prodigal son” Ingemar Gruber. The experienced defender returned to his youth club after more than ten successful years with the Rittner Buam and is now expected to make a difference in the Adler's defense. In attack, hopes rest on the new signings Flavio Faggioni and Manuel Lo Presti, who were lured to the Passerstadt by league rivals Neumarkt. Except: Twice champions, twice finalists - if you just look at the last four Serie B championships, the Frogs would be one of the top favorites for this year's season. But the 2015/16 second division cannot be compared in any way with previous seasons, which is why Robert Chizzali's team has to look backwards this season. A lot happened in Auer in the summer: 13 players were confirmed, and ten new additions were brought to the Unterland as reinforcements. The Aurer's top transfers include defender Peter Stimpfl (Eppan) and attacker Marian Zelger (Kaltern). However, the departure of Markus Simonazzi, who joined neighboring Neumarkt, is likely to be difficult. Ritten Sport Junior: The Rittner Buam second team, which is contesting its first championship in Serie B, starts the season as outsiders. The squad consists almost exclusively of young U20 players and is only supplemented by individual experienced players such as Matthias Fauster (Gröden last year) or Matteo Rasom (comeback, previously Auer). Rittner's coach is Roberto Scelfo, who will shuttle back and forth between the first and second teams as assistant coach of the Serie A team. Pustertal Junior: After reaching the semi-finals last year, the Wolves are continuing on their chosen path and - like the Rittners - are entering the new season with a young squad. The result from last year is certainly difficult to repeat, but the club has brought a real coaching expert to the Puster Valley in Erwin Kostner, who can get a lot out of the young players. In addition, Kostner is supposed to shape the hungry young talents into Serie A players. Vinschgau/Latsch: The team from the west of South Tyrol will most likely tackle this year's Serie B championship with the same squad as in previous seasons. The Vinschgers also expect a difficult championship in which they first have to prove that they can keep up with the higher level of the league. The club relies on Jeff Job for the coaching position. The internationally experienced Canadian was in charge in Kitzbühel (INL) last season; he was previously assistant coach in Vipiteno (A2) and Innsbruck (EBEL).
