Winning goal in the last minute: Bolzano narrowly brings Innsbruck to its knees

The encounter in the Bolzano Ice Wave started extremely lively. After Innsbruck wing Lammers woke up the HCB with a shot from the pole, Bernard and Co. took the reins more and more into their own hands and were rewarded with the lead in the sixth minute: Frank made an ideal pass from the right to Insam, who easily made it 1 :0 inserted. Just 120 seconds later, the “Foxes” increased their lead to 2-0. Egger played a free pass to Reid, who didn't need to be asked twice from a tight angle and pushed the puck over the line. The HCB could have extended their lead further in the first third, but were very unlucky with Frank and Vallerand hitting the crossbar twice. So it was 2-0 going into the first third break.

Innsbruck became increasingly stronger in the middle section. First Sedivy failed to reach the goal frame before Lammers reduced the deficit to 1:2. In the following minutes, numerous penalties on both sides dominated the game. Bozen and Metropolit once again came dangerously in front of the opponent's goal, but the former NHL crack's shot went just wide of the goal. The guests then developed a few options. Smith used one of them in the 37th minute and scored the equalizer. HCB striker Vallerand caused the final excitement of the second third: The Canadian shot from a distance, but Chiodo was just able to defuse his hammer and thus kept the score at 2-2 for the time being.

Melichercik wide awake at the penalty – Palmieri makes the decision In the final section, the “Foxes” pushed hard for the opening goal. The Pokel team also created a number of opportunities, but both Frigo and Reid failed either due to their own inability or at the post, so the game remained in balance. Palmieri also found his match with a shot from the turn in Chiodo. Three minutes before the end, Innsbruck came back with Bishop, who - brought down by Oberdörfer - took a penalty. In the subsequent one-on-one, however, Melichercik was in a class of his own and prevented the score from making it 2-3. Shortly before the end, things got even better for the HCB: Vallerand saw the free-standing Palmieri, who pushed the puck over the line to make it 3-2 - Bozen's victory was therefore perfect.
