Sledge Hockey: Germany has no chance in the test against Italy

The different form strengths of the two teams that faced each other in the ice stadium in Fondo from January 25th to 27th were clearly visible. The first match on Friday ended 1-0, while the Germans had no chance on the second day and ultimately had to admit defeat to the Italians 1:10. Day three brought another success for the “Azzurri” as they retained the upper hand 5-0.

The Germans were unable to stand up to the home team. In the first game the result would have been much higher, but the German goalie Simon Kunst did a good job. Coach Massimo can be satisfied with the test ahead of the Group A World Championships in April in Korea. The Italians also face the difficult qualification for Sochi 2014.

Florian Planker from Val Gardena showed a brilliant performance last weekend, being named the best player of the tournament. The 15-year-old Nils Larch, who scored two goals in the three games, was also able to impress. Werner Winkler from Kalter was also there.

Now the national team is taking a short break before a training camp in Turin is scheduled for Friday, during which they will play a test match against Russia and Japan, among other things. The international tournament will take place in Turin from February 5th to 9th.
