Vipiteno brings in former 99ers coach Ivo Jan

The Clayton Beddoes chapter is closed in the Fuggerstadt. The Canadian, who was recently hotly traded at HC Bozen, is probably heading back to Germany.

The Slovenian Ivo Jan will take his place on the board next season. After a successful playing career, he began his coaching career as an assistant coach at HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in 2012/13. In October of the following season he succeeded Bojan Zajc, who had resigned, as head coach. In 2013/14 he was brought in as Todd Björkstrand's assistant by the Graz99ers, where he had become a crowd favorite as a striker over four seasons, and was confirmed in the following season. It didn't take long for him to rise from assistant to head coach in the Styrian capital either, as Björkstrand was released in October 2015 after just eight match days. Jan took the helm and led the 99ers to 10th place in the main round after a very difficult start. Despite missing the playoffs, Jan was confirmed as head coach for the 2016/17 season and had a good start to the new season with the team, before the injury woes of a team that was too short hit home and a downward spiral suddenly dashed Graz's hopes of the EBEL pick round made. In order to initiate a turnaround, the Slovenian was placed on leave in December and replaced by Doug Mason.

Jan: “Developing talent” After a short stopover as assistant coach of the Eispiren Crimmitschau in the DEL2, the 42-year-old is now joining the Broncos as head coach. “I can't wait for the season to start. It's great to have a young team to work with. This means players are hungry and willing to learn. “I hope we can continue on the path that Clayton has taken over the last two years and develop some Italian talent for the future,” said Jan about his new commitment.

Goalkeeper is the top priority

The club management has already started squad planning with the new coach. The goalkeeper question has the highest priority. Championship driver Gianluca Vallini is apparently at the top of the wish list, but last year's Broncos goalie Ty Rimmer also seems to be an option. After that, it is important to compensate for the departures of Simon Baur, Hannes Stofner and Patrick Mair, who will probably step down in the future. There's a lot of work waiting for the Broncos' new coach in the coming weeks and months.
