Vipiteno signs Canadian striker

The 25-year-old right-handed shooter, who weighs 84 kg and is 183 cm tall, was drafted by the Nashville Predators in 2008, but never made it to the best league in the world. He decided to study at Ohio State University, where he played for the Buckeyes in the NCAA for two mixed seasons that were hampered by health problems. After a coaching change, he was retired in October 2010, a few days before the start of his penultimate college season. He took this setback as a challenge and moved to the Prince George Cougars in the Western Hockey League. In his only WHL season, 2010–11, he scored 68 goals and made 24 assists in 43 games. He then decided to complete his university education in Canada, where he played for the University of Calgary in the CIS. In the three seasons with the “Dinos” he collected 79 points (77 goals, 24 assists) in 53 games and was even elected to the league’s second all-star team.

Immediately successful in the ECHL Last year, Stefishen signed with the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL, where he enjoyed immediate success. In his rookie season, he had 16 goals, 24 assists and 79 penalty minutes in 58 games. His instinct for goal, his good eye for the game and his creativity, coupled with his tireless commitment and willingness to sometimes push the limits of physical contact, did not go unnoticed in the AHL. Stefishen was invited to guest games by the Texas Stars and the Adirondack Flames and later even completed a training camp with the Texans, but was unable to make a lasting impression and returned to Elmira in the ECHL at the beginning of the new season. Because of a broken finger, he only played 11 games by the end of the year, scoring one goal and three assists. Stefishen has now landed in Vipiteno and can hardly wait for his new adventure: “I wanted to come to Europe to build a career here. I'm really looking forward to starting this new chapter of my hockey career and I think Vipiteno is an excellent opportunity to take this step. The team is well in the running for the playoffs and I hope I can help the team finish the season strong and maybe even win the title!” The Broncos' new striker now has to complete the formalities to obtain an entry visa and, provided there are no unforeseen problems, will arrive in Wipptal over the next week.

Vipiteno signs Canadian striker

The WSV Vipiteno Broncos Weihenstephan has found what he is looking for in his search for a striker: On Monday morning, the Serie A club announced that the Canadian Taylor Stefishen will be wearing the Broncos jersey in the future.
