Supercup: Devos shoots the wolves to seventh heaven

Ritten Sport had to go into the match without captain Travis Ramsey in front of only half-filled spectator stands, while the HCP played with their best line-up. It was also the guests who set the first tone in an emotion-poor initial phase. Just when Ritten was in the majority, the Wolves scored for the first time. Tauber won a Bulli in the attack zone and set up Hofer, who hit the mark from the blue line. Goalie Holt didn't look good in this scene. The Rittner goalkeeper made amends immediately afterwards and thwarted Obermair and Devon's best chances. There was no sign of the home team in the first third.

It was only after the first break that the game finally got going. As Thomas Spinell was stewing in the “cool box”, Oberrauch directed a Devos shot into the net to make it 2-0. This time, Buam's reaction didn't take long: just a few seconds after Puster's second goal, Rissmiller reduced the score to 1:2, and immediately afterwards Johansson even made it 2:2 with a power play goal. Now Ritten had really tasted blood and suddenly pushed in front of the opponent's goal. Just in this phase, Gruber allowed the puck to be stolen from Scandella. He didn't have to be asked twice and scored after a solo effort to make it 3-2. However, the Raymond force was not intimidated. First Ansoldi hit the crossbar, then Felicetti failed to hit the crossbar. This time, however, Thomas Spinell was wide awake and scored from the slot to equalize again.

The HCP has the longer stamina

In the final third, both teams continued to play at a high pace, but this resulted in a number of mistakes on both sides. The two penalty boxes also filled up again and again, but neither opponent was able to capitalize on it. Tudin missed from close range, while on the other side Holt went above and beyond with an Oberrauch finish. The decisive scene would only take place in the final seconds, when Oberrauch initiated a quick countermove after a pass error by Johansson, which was finally completed by Devos with a well-placed shot into the top corner. The HCP cracks' celebration knew no bounds because it was now clear: the 2014 Supercup was going to Bruneck.

Supercup: Devos shoots the wolves to seventh heaven

A goal from the new HCP attacker 15 seconds before the end gave the champions and cup winners from Ritten a knockout blow and secured the Bruneck team their first title of the season. The game ended 4:3 in favor of HC Pustertal, who literally fought for the second Supercup win in the club's history.
