Thomas Pichler reports back

Anyone who knows Thomas Pichler probably knew that his return to the ice was only a matter of time. In the summer of 2013, the 29-year-old striker decided to take a break. The reason for this was a trip around the world that Pichler returned home from around a month ago. After several attempts at persuasion by the Kalter club management, Pichler agreed and will therefore soon be seen on the ice again. Pichler trained with the team on Monday evening and will be available to the club after the break.

Another return

This is the second time for the Kalter native that he has returned to his roots. On November 18, 2012, after seven seasons at HC Pustertal and one year at Rittner Buam, with whom he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, he moved back to Kaltern. He played 2012 games in the Hechte's jersey in the 13/31 season, in which he scored an impressive 37 points. Then, as already mentioned, the trip around the world followed before Thomas Pichler returned to SV Kaltern.

Pichler's career

Pichler learned to play ice hockey in Kaltern and played in all the youth teams there. He is considered a very talented player with a great fighting spirit who always puts himself at the service of his team. From 2002 to 2004 he played for two years in the Finnish third division with RoKi, then he returned to Italy and moved to Pustertal in Serie A. In Bruneck he played 314 championship games in seven seasons and scored 24 goals and 49 assists. He also led the Puster team as captain for a long time.

In 2011, Pichler signed a one-year contract with Ritten Sport, where he recorded six goals and eight assists in 51 games. A year later, however, he returned to his hometown club. Pichler also played for the “Azzurri” U2001 and U2005 teams from 18 to 20. Since 2008 he has also been in the squad for the Italian senior national team several times.

Thomas Pichler reports back

After his one-year break from ice hockey, which the local attacker used to explore the world, the “prodigal son” will lace up his skates again and play with his hometown club, SV Kaltern.
