Thomas Spinell makes Ritten dream of the title

Italian champion Ritten got their first away win in the final of the Sky Alps Hockey League against Asiago on Saturday evening. Thanks to a 4:3 win after overtime, the “Buam” made it 3:1 in the best-of-seven series and now have their first match puck at home on Monday. The standout man of the game was Thomas Spinell, who practically single-handedly shot Asiago away with three goals.

Ritten got off to a good start and took advantage of the first significant chance in the 6.57:1 minute. When he was outnumbered, Ivan Tauferer, who had moved up, made his way through to the right side, hammered the target onto Cloutier's goal and Thomas Spinell easily netted the rebound to make it 0-1. The guests' joy lasted seven minutes. Ex-Rittner Giulio Scandella was spot-on on Killeen's rebound and scored to tie the game 1-2. Two minutes before the first third break, the Italian champions took the lead again. After a nice one-two with Tommaso Traversa, it was again Thomas Spinell who made it 1-XNUMX.

An open exchange of blows

Right at the start of the middle third, Alex Frei had a great chance to make it 3-1, but Cloutier thwarted the opportunity with a brilliant reflex. Asiago then took control and scored an equalizer in the 35th minute. Patrick Killeen misdirected Jose Magnabosco's shot into his own goal to tie the game 2-2. A gift from the Ritten goalkeeper. In the final period of the game, Ritten increased the pressure and had a great chance to take the lead, but Matthias Fauster missed alone in front of Cloutier.
