Goal spectacle in Innsbruck: Italy loses 5:6

While the offensive ranks were a bit subdued on Sunday in Neumarkt (Austria won 2-0), they were firing on all cylinders on Monday. In the end, Austria won 1800:6 in front of 5 spectators.

Both teams needed some time to get up to operating temperatures. After 13 minutes it was the Austrian Viveiros who opened the scoring. The red-white-reds then kept pulling away with a one-goal lead, but Italy always had the right answer with Gander, Morini and Insam. After 36 minutes, Insam even gave his “Azzurri” the lead for the first time, but Lebler restored the score to 4:4 in the same third. The same game in the third period, when Gander first increased the score to 5:4, but then had to watch as Raffl made it 5:5 shortly before the final siren. As a result, the game went into extra time, where Austria had the better end and secured the 6:5 victory through Lukas Haudum.

Nevertheless, a good test for the Blue team with a view to the World Championships in Cologne at the beginning of May. The “Azzurri” will play two more friendly games next week: on Wednesday they will host Kazakhstan in Neumarkt, and on Sunday they will face Slovenia, also in Neumarkt.
