U20 World Cup: Italy celebrates its first win against Austria

For Erwin Kostner's team it was the first of two finals to stay in the league. The second follows on Saturday against Slovenia. For a long time on Wednesday evening it looked like a clear affair for Austria. Marco Richter (16.06), Philipp Lindner (25.39) and Ali Wukovits (25.48) made things clear until halftime of the game. In the 31.39 minute Alex Lambacher scored the Italians' first goal, but Richter made it 21-4 with his second goal of the game 1 seconds before the second break. The match seemed to be finally over for Austria. Six minutes into the final third suddenly turned this encounter on its head. Riccardo Lacedelli (47.39), Paolo Morini (50.03) and Ritten defender Ivan Tauferer (53.43) made it 4:4. The game therefore went into overtime. Here the Italians were more active and were rewarded with the winning goal in the 62.48 minute by Alex Lambacher, who plays in Mannheim. On the third matchday of the World Cup, Belarus beat Latvia 2-1 and took sole lead in the table, while Slovenia surprisingly managed to score a point in the battle to stay in the league against Norway.

U20 World Cup: Italy celebrates its first win against Austria

The Italian U20 national team had their first victory on the third matchday of the IIHF U20 World Championship Division IA in Asiago. The “Azzurri” prevailed in a very important game to stay in the league after an incredible comeback against Austria with 5:4 goals after extra time.
