Unterland's historic evening: Cavaliers defeat Adler

The roles were clearly assigned before the final: The HCM was the favorite, not least because of the direct duels in the IHL (5:1 and 4:0). The Eagles are also a force in their own stadium, as their last home defeat was over a year ago. For the Cavaliers, however, participation in the final was a great success, which is why they were able to go into the most important game in the club's history without any pressure. This carefree attitude had a positive effect - the outsider dethroned the reigning cup winners and won 3-2. The game in the deserted Meran Arena started just as the Cavaliers wanted. Led by legionnaires Filip Kokoska and Tobias Pisetta, the Unterlanders shot themselves 2-0 ahead after just six minutes - a dream start for the underdog. However, this was then weakened when Gabriel Zerbetto and Pisetta had to sit in the penalty box at the same time. At 3-on-5, the guests initially defended strongly before the pressure on goalie Frederic Cloutier became too great and Andreas Radin made it 1-2 (15th). Tobias Brighenti & Co. didn't let this get them down - Kokosa restored the old gap 30 seconds before the end of the period. Cloutier captures victory In the second half, the HCM were the more active team and were rewarded for their effort in the 32nd minute: Thomas Mitterer defeated Cloutier for the second time and ensured that things got really exciting again in the final third. In this, Luca Ansoldi & Co. pushed for the equalizer, which the strong Cloutier did not allow. The Cavaliers saved their narrow lead over time and won the first title in the club's history.
