Valpellice is the second Serie A finalist

In the sold-out Valmora Arena Cotta Morandini, Valpellice and Cortina faced each other in the fifth playoff semi-final in front of over 2200 spectators. Paul Baier was missing from Valpellice and had to sit in the stands as a surplus foreigner. At Cortina, however, Luca Zandonella and Erik Weissmann were not part of the game, while Michele Zanatta moved into the offensive department. The first third was extremely tactical. The hosts initially applied more pressure and took the lead in the fifth minute through Anthony Aquino. Brian Ihnacak did the preparatory work. After that, Alex Silva and Ihnacak could have increased the score to 2-0, but were denied by Levasseur. On the other hand, Jordan Parise was in charge of a number of chances for the guests. The home side started strongly in the middle third, but Cortina had the first chance. Felicetti's shot went just wide of the goal. On the other hand, the home side did better: Aquino met Slavomir Tomko, who didn't need to be asked twice and scored to make it 22.59-2 after 0 minutes. As a result, Valpellice continued to dominate the game, but Cortina was unimpressed. The home team couldn't strike with a double majority. Cortina initially failed on the other side with Stanislav Gron, before Giorgio De Bettin shortened the score to 1:2 a short time later when he was outnumbered. Now the match was open again. There were initially few highlights in the final third. Both goalkeepers had a relatively quiet evening. Cortina pushed for an equalizer, but after 49.02 minutes the Ampezzo team conceded their third goal. Dupont and Ihnacak did the preparatory work, Rob Sirianni made ice-cold use of the assist. Until then there was little to see of Valpellice's attacker. This meant that a preliminary decision had been made. When Pietro Canale made it 4-1 a little later, this match and therefore the series was decided. There was hope again when Paul Albers, with a double majority, reduced the score to 2:4 (Tomko and Johnson were in the penalty box). But as a result, Valpellice didn't allow much and even a sixth player for Levasseur brought nothing to the Beddoes team. The club from Piedmont deservedly prevailed and is in the final for the championship title for the first time. Now it's against Asiago.

HC Valpellice Bodino Engineering took advantage of their first match point on Saturday evening. Thanks to a 4-2 home win against Cortina, Flanagan's troops have reached the final, where the Piedmont club will face Asiago.
