One thing is set in stone three games before the end of the regular season: HC Meran, SV Kaltern and the Unterland Cavaliers have already qualified for the playoffs. Behind them, the remaining six teams are fighting for five places. There is no master's or qualification round, as the mode was extensively modified in November and December due to the Corona break.

The Falcons Brixen have the best cards. They are in 12th place with 20 games and 5 points. With a win on Saturday against bottom team Eppan, Patrick Bona & Co. would no longer be able to take part in the playoffs. For the pirates, however, it is forbidden to lose - even if the distance to the “saving bank” is only one point. Nevertheless, Robert Dowd & Co. have a duty, especially since the last two games are against Meran and Kaltern. Summit meeting in Merano canceled The latter teams are at the top of the table – and should have met on Thursday. But the game was canceled because Kaltern had to complain about “several absences due to illness”. Meran has its next home game against Varese on Saturday, and the Unterland Cavaliers have to go to Pergine at the same time. The focus is on creating a good starting position.

If the IHL is already entering its hot phase, there are still twelve games on the program in the AlpsHL. Nevertheless, the fight for the top 12 places is already heating up. Above all, the Wipptal Broncos and HC Gherdëina can't afford any more slip-ups if they don't want to end their season early. The games against Feldkirch (Wipptal) and Bregenzerwald (Gröden) represent high hurdles that must be overcome. The Ladins can use the services of Joonas Niemelä, the new legionnaire in Pranives.

Also on Thursday, the Rittner Buam will be challenged at the second representation in Klagenfurt, while the Wolves will have to defend themselves against the speed of the Red Bull Juniors.
