Move to the DEL: Alex Lambacher gets a chance to prove himself

Lambacher, who took his first steps in ice hockey at HC Gröden, received a professional contract with Adler Mannheim in July 2016 that is valid until the summer of 2018. However, he was still not allowed to get a taste of the DEL air as he played last season and the first part of this season wearing the Kassel Huskies jersey in the DEL. Last winter he also played a guest appearance with the Hannover Indians in the third German league.

Since the Adler Mannheim are now struggling with personnel concerns, Lambacher will get his first chance to prove himself in the top German league sooner than expected. “Due to the ongoing bad luck with injuries, we decided to give Alex a chance to present himself and fight for a place,” explains Adler manager Teal Fowler and describes the 21-year-old national player as follows: “He is a tall player who is technically adept and has recently shown good performances in the DEL2 for Kassel.” On Tuesday, Lambacher will make his first appearance for Mannheim, who are currently in 6th place in the table, against EHC Red Bull Munich.

In Mannheim since 2010 The Lambacher, who was born in Brixen, joined the Jungadler's U2010 team in 16 and made it into the DNL (German Youth League) via the student Bundesliga. In his five years in Mannheim, the right-handed shooter celebrated five championships and led the U19s onto the ice as captain in the 2014/15 season. He spent the 2015/16 season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he scored 30 points in 62 games (11 goals / 19 assists) for the Minnesota Magicians and the Coulee Region Chill.
