Znojmo kidnaps three points from the ice wave

Now to the game of the evening, which was supposed to catapult HCB Südtirol Alperia out of last place in the table. Today's opponent from the Czech Republic was a tough one, because Znojmo got off to a good start in the championship and is in the upper regions of the table. Coach Pat Curcio only had to do without the injured Anton Bernard, while Luca Frigo made a few changes.

The 3000 spectators saw a brilliant first third with quick changes of scenery, brisk tempo and a concentrated Bolzano team, which mostly set the tone. After just four minutes, the home team had their first big opportunity to score when Egger played a great pass to Angelidis, but he couldn't get the puck past the opposing goalie. A minute later the scene was repeated, this time it was Smith who beautifully cleared Carlisle. After another minute, the bell rang in Black's box: Austin Smith hit a fantastic cross pass to Halmo and he had no trouble netting the puck to make it 1-0. Bozen pressed for the second goal, a shot from Smith narrowly missed its target and four minutes before the end of the period Schweitzer started a counterattack and could only be stopped by a foul. The Pusterer himself took the penalty, but he wasn't able to score his first EBEL goal (yet).

At the beginning of the middle period, Frigo had the second goal for Bozen, alone in front of Black, but missed the shot. After three minutes, Bartos, outnumbered, started a counterattack, Melichercik skillfully blocked his path, but the guests' equalizer was only a matter of time. In the fifth minute, Nemec equalized for Znojmo after a remarkable counterattack on a pass from Yellow Horn. The Foxes faltered for a few minutes, but as a result an open exchange of blows developed with opportunities for both sides, the game wavered back and forth. First Oleksuk had a good opportunity, but Melichercik was called upon twice in return. Six minutes before the end of the third, HCB Südtirol Alperia took the lead again, Alex Petan poked the disc into Schwarz's goal after Gartner's shot. The joy of the Bolzano crowd didn't last long, as just two minutes later Csamango scored another equalizer for the Czechs. Once again there was a fire in front of Melichercik's goal, Yellow Horn missed the shot and Nemec appeared alone in front of the Bolzano goalie, who remained the winner.

At the beginning of the last third, the guests had more of the game and that had an impact after eight minutes: the Bolzano defense carelessly played around the puck, Nemec grabbed it, fed Lattner and Znojmo took the lead for the first time. The Foxes pushed for an equalizer, but their game was too awkward and lacked final consistency. Three minutes before the end of the game, DeSousa had the 100% equalizer, but Schwarz saved with an uncanny reflex. And so it happened as it had to happen: in the last minute of the game, Znojmo destroyed Bozen's last hopes with a beautifully scored goal. Csamango refined a precise pass from Nemec.

After this defeat, HC Bozen remains at the bottom of the table.
