Znojmo wasn't worth the trip this time - Foxes lost 4:6

Bolzano started furiously in the Czech Republic and took the lead in the fifth minute. Palmieri gave Nechvatal the loss with a shot from the slot over his shoulder. Even after that, the Foxes stayed on the pressure and increased the lead after a quarter of an hour with Bell, who gave the Znojmo goalie the advantage on his first goal of the season with a hammer from the left side (with an obscured view).

Towards the end of the starting third, Bozen incurred two unnecessary time penalties (time delay by Palmieri, tripping by Pope) and, being twice outnumbered, the Foxes conceded the next goal. Sedivy gave Hübl the advantage 35 seconds before the siren and reduced the score to 1:2.

Bartos equalizes

The hosts played more offensively in the second half of the game. At first Znojmo was unlucky when Sedivy hit the hard rubber disc against the crossbar (24th). Ten minutes later the Czechs did better. This time Bartos initially stuck to Hübl before sinking the rebound into the Foxes' box. That meant the match was open again. Also because Bolzano let two outnumbered situations go to waste.

In the final third, Bozen received the next time penalty and promptly fell behind. With Gander sitting in the cooler, Stach gave the home team the lead with a shot through Hübl's leg pads. On Tuesday, Bolzano was 0-2 down and turned the match around, three days later the Czech club managed to do so. Things got even better for Znojmo two and a half minutes later when Novak made it 4-2 with a shot under the crossbar. Pokel now took a time out and shook his men awake.

And the lecture had an effect. Because in the 49th minute Palmieri reduced the score to 3:4. Foster could have equalized just 180 seconds later, but was caught by the alert Nechvatal.

The bell rang in the home team's box in the 57th minute. Pollastrone beat Nechvatal with a rebound. But Bozen's joy only lasted 88 seconds, because then Sulak was illegally obstructed and he safely converted the penalty. In the last minute of the game, Pokel took Hübl off the ice, but Sedivy made everything clear with the empty net goal.

The EBEL continued on Friday evening with the sixth matchday in the Pick Round and Qualification Round. The HCB Südtirol experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions in the Czech Republic. The White-Reds led 2-0 against Znojmo, were then down 2-4, equalized again and ultimately lost 4-6.
