Coach Roberto Mancini's team drove through the streets of the Italian capital in a bus without a roof on Monday evening and celebrated their triumph together with the fans. Thousands of spectators lined the streets and cheered on the team. People waved Italian flags, sang and jumped, the players celebrated the title with a laola with their fans.

“That’s the best thing, sharing the joy with the fans,” said national coach Roberto Mancini. “We haven't slept since yesterday morning, but it's worth it.” The bus slowly made its way, the refrain “notti magiche” - magical nights - from the 1990 World Cup hit “Un'estate italiana” blaring from the loudspeakers Gianna Nannini, who had accompanied the team through the European Championships since the opening game in Rome.

The big title break was led by captain Giorgio Chiellini and his defense partner Leonardo Bonucci – The duo had not taken their eyes off the silver trophy throughout the day. “This group never lost its soul, even in difficult moments,” said the 36-year-old Chiellini, paying tribute to his teammates.

President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Mario Draghi had previously welcomed the team and honored their performance at this European Championship ( see own article ).

As the team bus drove through the city towards the Quirinal Palace and later the Chigi Palace, numerous fans lined the streets. The team therefore took significantly longer than expected for the short route through the city because the bus made slow progress and had to stop again and again.
