0-3 defeat in the cup: FC Südtirol's start to the season was unsuccessful

Against Mestre, coach Zanetti used a 3-5-1-1 playing system. In front of Offredi, Oneto, Vinetot and Frascatore formed the back three. Tait and Zanchi took up the wing positions, while Bertoni, Broh and Cia played in midfield. Hannes Fink was deployed behind Costantino.

The game started very badly for the FCS: four minutes had passed when Beccaro simply put a Rubbo free kick into the net. The resulting uncertainty at FCS only subsided after 24 minutes, when Zanchi (with a low shot) and Costantino (alone in front of Mestre keeper Favaro) missed good chances. Shortly before half-time it was again the striking Costantino who forced Favaro into a brilliant save with a header.

After the break, the FCS pushed for an equalizer before Bussi caused a South Tyrolean setback after 60 minutes: after preparatory work by Beccaro and Fabbri, the Mestre player made it 2-0. A little later, Fabbri slipped into the goalscoring role and made it 3-0 and the decision with a shot in the South Tyrolean penalty area (79th).

Due to the defeat, FC Südtirol will face the third team in the circle of three next Sunday, namely Triestina. The game will be played in the Drusus Stadium.
