1st Amateur League: A fairy tale in blue and white

The coaching team Markus Schwienbacher/Berndt Mair once again demonstrated a golden touch. In the big derby of the 1st Amateur League Group B between Olang and Rasen/Antholz, the 66th minute of the game had begun when the coaching team took the exhausted Hannes Hintner from the field and threw the very young Peter Pineider for him into the boiling derby cauldron in which the Puster teams were In front of an impressive crowd, Olang gave nothing away, but with a 1-0 lead, Olang had the advantage for the final phase.

With the coolness of a veteran Well, after Pineider's substitution and the scenes that followed, the two coaches could confidently pat each other on the back. The 17-year-old young striker hadn't quite completed his run into his natural habitat, i.e. into the opponent's penalty area, when the first cross came flying in, which Pineider loosely, coolly and casually with his first touch of the ball directly into the goal to make it 2-0 forwarded. It was the decision in the derby. Olang ultimately won 3-0 and thus got the first three points ever in the 1st amateur league after the opening game last Sunday went badly wrong with a 0-4 defeat.

Fairytale career Another milestone in the Olanger club's history, whose stories in recent years have only been written in the 2nd and 3rd amateur leagues. It wasn't until the 2014/15 season that the initial spark for a picture-perfect rise followed: First, they fought their way out of the 3rd amateur league through the playoffs, only to celebrate the historic first championship title in the 2nd amateur league the following year. What was particularly memorable were the images of the decisive game for the championship last year against, guess what, Rasen/Antholz, of course, in which the arena in Antholz was bursting at the seams with 800 spectators and finally turned blue after the perfect Olang championship title -white sea of flags and Bengalos was transformed.

Arrived Fan support is and remains a great strength of Olanger even in the “new” World 1st Amateur League. On Sunday, between 300 and 400 spectators watched the derby against Rasen/Antholz - a very large number for the first amateur league. But they all probably came to the same conclusion after the game: Olang has finally arrived in the new league.
