1st Amateur League: Merano… and who else?

CIRCLE A: There can only be one If on May 28th, i.e. on the last match day, FC Meran is not in first place in the A circle of the 1st amateur league, that would be a medium-sized sensation. The Passerstädter currently only have a two-point lead over Latsch, second in the table - but the winter signings of Peter Mair, Matteo Piccoli and Gianluca Corea alone show that the 1st amateur league should only be a stopover for the traditional club.

It's a fact in football and sport that big names don't get their titles handed to them on a silver platter. The competition sees the people of Passerstadt as the big favorites, but they sense their chance. Above all Latsch: The Vinschgers, currently in second place, have strengthened themselves with Patrick Kuppelwieser (Obermais) and Hannes Stecher (return after injury) and will probably remain the big and only opponent in the fight for the title. Terlan's (3rd place) gap to Meran is probably too big at five points. The motto is therefore: Anything other than a master named Meran would be a surprise.

CIRCLE B: Four teams in pole position A clear favorite like in the A relay will be looked for in vain in the B circle. The field at the front is as close together as the passengers in the last row of a cheap flight. Two teams are already the big surprises: Klausen (currently 2nd) and Haslach (3rd), as promoted teams, not only overturned all expert predictions, but can now also have serious hopes of a “double” promotion. Striking: Both the Isarco Valley and the Bozen team showed no inhibitions on offense and had the best scores in the league (37 and 31 respectively).

The example of Milland proves that the saying “Quality trumps quantity” is not only a popular advertising tool in the marketing headquarters of large companies, but is also consistent in football: with 21 goals in just 13 games The Black and Yellows are at best league average, but with 27 points they have the most of all teams. Klausen and Haslach are lurking in second place, each one point behind, Taufers can also still hope for promotion with 24 points.

These four teams will battle it out for the title. Will Milland's or Taufers' routine prevail in the end? Or have the euphoric wings of Klausen and Haslach already gained the strength for the big blow? We will see. In any case, the first amateur league starts again on Saturday and Sunday.
