2-0 win! Vicentin keeps Terlan's hopes of promotion alive

In front of a large crowd of spectators, the starting position was clear on Wednesday: If the home team from Taufers wins or draws, promotion to the regional league is perfect. Terlan, on the other hand, had to win by at least three goals or win by two goals - then they would save themselves into the playoff against Meran, while the Tauferer's dream of promotion would have been shattered. The latter case finally occurred.

Both teams had a brisk encounter from the start, in which Terlan initially had a little more share of the game, but only narrowly got past the secure Tauferer defensive block. Therefore, no goals were scored in the first 45 minutes.

Vicentin decisive man After the break, the home team took over the reins, but didn't capitalize on it - on the contrary. 72 minutes had passed when Vicentin's cross landed at Cehaic, who fired the ball over the line from close range to make it 1-0 from Terlan. The constellation was now explosive, as both teams needed a goal: Terlan to save themselves into the playoff, Taufers to make it 1-1 and secure promotion to the national league with a draw. A lot of pep then came into the game, Tauferer Niederwolfsgruber was expelled from the field for kicking. Terlan took advantage of the numerical superiority: Armin Mayr initially left a “one hundred percent” before Vicentin hammered a cross into the net a minute before the end to make it 2-0.

Since Taufers could no longer react, Terlan's victory was perfect. While the Ahrntalers have to bury their state league dreams, the Etschtalers will now face Meran in the all-important game on Saturday.
