3rd League: Magdeburg takes over the top of the table

Cologne (SID) 1. FC Magdeburg has taken the lead in the promotion race of the 3rd football league. The FCM won 25-3 (1-1) at Werder Bremen II on matchday 1 and took 53 points ahead of the previous leaders SC Paderborn (51), whose away game at SV Meppen was canceled because the pitch was unplayable. In the pursuit duel with SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Fortuna Cologne came back with a 1-0 (0-0). The Cologne team reduced the gap to third-placed Wiesbaden (44) to three points.
