Alessandro Campo keeps FC Südtirol on track

FC Südtirol continues to shake up Group A of the 1st Division: With a hard-fought 1-0 win against the ambitious team from Cremona, Thiam and Co. maintained third place in the table.

FCS coach Stefano Vecchi was able to count on Marcone in goal again today, but had to do without the suspended Iacoponi in defense. Hannes Kiem, who was allowed to play in central defense from the start, benefited primarily from this. In midfield and attack, Branca and Maritato were given a break, with Bontà and Pasi replacing them.

The spectators in the Drusus Stadium were treated to lean football food in the first half. The FCS tried to set an example, but Cremonese's aggressive style of play prevented any offensive efforts. Real scoring chances were so scarce. Only Kiem created a hint of goal danger with a header five minutes into the break.

It wasn't until the 56th minute that the FCS fans were brought out of their seats for the first time when Pasi missed, standing alone in front of the opposing goalkeeper. A short time later he had to make way for Maritato - and the White-Reds' game immediately gained momentum. In the 67th minute, Alessandro Campo took heart, let several opponents get out and shot from around 20 meters. The ball rushed unstoppably into the net at the left inside post. Just five minutes later, Degeri had the chance to equalize, but his attempt was thwarted by keeper Marcone. Afterwards, the already rough game became even rougher and two Cremonese players, Cangi and Djuric, were sent off. Meanwhile, FC Südtirol showed few nerves and skilfully played their narrow lead over time. The final point was set by Thiam, whose shot barely grazed the goal.
