Amateur football association stops in Neumarkt with 60th anniversary celebration

Neumarkt is the 4th stop of the 60th anniversary celebrations called “Road Show” of the national amateur football association (LND). The round birthday was previously celebrated in Catanzaro, in Silvi Marina and in Faenza. The next places are Oristano, Montichiari and at the end in December it is Rome's turn.

The training base of the Italian Football Association (FIGC) is also located in the main town of Unterland. The main topic at the celebrations in Neumarkt was women's football.

A press conference was also held at midday in Neumarkt town hall chaired by LND President Cosimo Sibilla. The host Horst Pichler (Mayor of Neumarkt), the President of the Autonomous Regional Committee of Bozen Paul Georg Tappeiner, the women's football representative of the national association Ida Micheletti, and Franz Holzknecht as vice-delegate for women's football in the Regional Committee of Bolzano also spoke. Former striker Stefan Schwoch and Bolzano journalist Stefano Bizzotto were invited as guests of honor.

The celebrations began in the morning on the Neumarkt sports field, where numerous school classes from Neumarkt and Laag had gathered. Under the guidance of coach Yuri Pellegrini, the children were able to play various games throughout the morning, which are intended to introduce the youngsters to the sport of football. The girls' teams from Voran Leifers and Unterland Damen also showed their skills.

U18 team wins friendly match The highlight of the celebrations was a friendly match between the national association's selection team (U18) and the junior selection of the Bolzano Autonomous Regional Committee. The U18 of the national association narrowly won this entertaining game 4:3. The goals for the local junior selection were scored by Stefan Frötscher (Tramin) and Paolo Basile (2/Lana).

The selection under coach Manuel Obrist consisted of the following players: Albrecht (Naturns), Basile (Lana), Fratucello (Eppan), Gamper (Obermais), Gislimberti (Bozner FC), Messner (Girlan), Michaeler (Bozner FC), Neumair (Brixen), Oberhofer (Milland), Pedot (Salurn ), Plattner (Bozner FC), Kaufmann (Naturns), Pomella (Tramin), Stark (St. Georgen), Gruber (Obermais), Pitscheider (Brixen), Stefan Frötscher (Tramin), Michael Frötscher (Tramin), Schöpf (Obermais ), Borsotti (Bozen FC), Nivoloni (Bozen FC).

Three prizes were also awarded during the half-time break: The “Yankees” Virtus Bozen team for their exemplary project, which offers children with special needs the opportunity to play football. The Fair Play Prize was awarded to the GS Excelsior club, which has won the fair play ranking in the 0rd amateur league without interruption for over a decade. Virtus Bozen, the oldest club in South Tyrol, received the 3rd award. This was founded in 3.
