“ARD” reports: Doping network in Brazilian football

The "ARD" documentary "Secret Matter Doping: Brazil's Twelfth Man - Trickery in the Land of Football" reported on Sunday evening about easy access for top athletes from the country on the Sugarloaf Mountain and other South American countries to banned substances and preparations. At the center of the network is apparently a doctor who practices in Sao Paulo and is notorious for his affinity for doping.

Traces of Paulo Guerrero According to “ARD” research, at least in 2013 there was a connection between Peru’s national team captain Paolo Guerrero and the doctor, who is also popular in Brazil and counts numerous celebrities among his customers. According to a competitive athlete who remains anonymous, the doctor works without any scruples: “If you have enough money for the treatment, he will take care of it. It doesn't bother him that it violates the ethics of sport or the health of the patient," said the athlete in the film and also made a reference to football: "I know that he also talks to a lot of people from the football world works together.”

In the documentary, a Brazilian sports doctor also accuses a former national player of taking illegal substances after analyzing blood values: He has no doubt that the professional “was doped with anabolic steroids”. Prescribed doping drugs to a decoy The doctor in question, whose patients are said to include numerous former football stars, prescribed banned doping substances to a decoy disguised as a competitive athlete after a short examination and also established contacts with dealers in illegal substances. According to the “ARD” documentation, prescriptions for doping substances are available in Sao Paulo, for example, with waiting times of less than an hour. The Portuguese Luis Horta, who played a key role in setting up Brazil's anti-doping agency, also denounces the repeatedly successful defense strategy of Brazilian footballers after positive doping tests with claims about alleged contamination of the samples: “This theory is very strange. That seems like a pretty contrived explanation to me. “It’s virtually impossible,” said Horta.

The insider also pointed out that in these cases identical lawyers would always use identical experts and laboratories to support the claims.
