Then there was a scandal: The player was apparently already moving towards the dressing room, but "couldn't keep his anger under control, turned around and ran towards the referee," according to the association's Thursday circular. “He gave the referee and his own teammates the clear impression that he wanted to be violent towards the referee. Accordingly, a teammate felt obliged to stop him and prevent him from reaching the referee. Instead of calming down, the player freed himself from his teammate and resumed running against the referee. This time two teammates took action and with difficulty they were able to prevent him from attacking the referee. But this time too, the player managed to fight his way free and run towards the referee again. His teammates now saw themselves forced, since they probably considered the player's psychological state to be very dangerous, to push him to the ground and grab him with all their strength," the sports judge explains.

Due to the events, the sports judge imposed a ban on the player until May 31, 2018. The reason: “The need for his teammates to intervene physically and with force three times clearly proves that the player wanted to effectively attack the referee. In this case, one cannot speak of a usual incident in which a teammate stands between the referee and the footballer in order to calm a tense situation. Here, the soccer teammates even had to push the player to the ground and hold him with force.” In addition, such behavior violates the idea of fair play and the fundamental norms of mutual respect.
