Bayern Munich will now play its second team's small city derby in the regional league against 1860 Munich in the Sechzger Stadium. The German football record champions announced this after a meeting of the club's management around CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and President Uli Hoeneß with fan representatives on Monday evening. Bayern initially wanted to move the match to the Allianz Arena on April 29th. The fan umbrella organization Club No. 12 had criticized this plan.

"The very good discussion and the joint decision make it clear: When it comes to the immediate interests of our fans, the club management of FC Bayern Munich is always ready for dialogue and tries to support," said Rummenigge.

"It was very important to our fans that we stage the second leg at the same venue as the victorious first leg. We accepted that." Bayern had hoped to turn the derby into a promotion final in front of a big crowd. Fans complained that the second team (“Bayern Amateurs”) had had their home on Grünwalder Straße for decades. The proposed move would neglect “a piece of football culture”.

“We extremely welcome this decision by FCB and are very relieved about it,” said the No. 12 club via Facebook. The Sixers, on the other hand, reacted “with astonishment” to the decision. "From our point of view, there were many arguments in favor of the Allianz Arena venue in this particular case," said managing director Michael Scharold: "But of course it is solely in the hands of FC Bayern where they play their team's home games, even if we make the decision and in particular find the path to this decision extremely unfortunate." Bayern II is second in the regional league after 26 of 36 games this season. The gap to the leader 1860 is nine points.
