The 31st derby between SC St. Martin and SSV Naturns was eagerly awaited. Between the ninth-placed team from Passeiertal and the leader from Vinschgau, who has the same points with Virtus Bozen. But the match was not a football treat in the sunny autumn weather and mild temperatures.

Both teams acted too tensely. The game rarely flowed in the hectic game, with bad passes on both sides. Naturns was far too rarely able to utilize its offensive potential. The first exception was the chance for the visitors in the ninth minute when Lanpacher's shot was blocked by a home team defender. Three minutes later, Saltuari tried a free kick on the other side, but it missed the target.

Lanthaler had to leave the field injured after 22 minutes

In the middle of the first half, in the 22nd minute, Daniel Lanthaler had to leave the field injured. He suffered a strain in a running duel. The 24-year-old striker said in the middle of the week that he particularly enjoyed playing against Naturns because he often scores in this derby.

After half an hour, Bacher tried from a tight angle after nice preparatory work from Nischler, but Platter was at his post. In the final phase of the first period, St. Martin also had two opportunities through Black, but once his shot went past the left post (33'), later Piazzo parried safely (45'+2).

Lanpacher misses his first real big chance

After the break, Lanpacher had the biggest chance to date in the 52nd minute, but the home team's goalie remained the winner in the duel with Platter. In the 66th minute, Schwienbacher tried it, but a St. Martin defender stopped his foot. Five minutes later the yellow and blue were able to celebrate. Substitute Blaas was sent on his way by Bacher, the 17-year-old youngster evaded the defense, finally stayed cool in front of Platter and pushed into the far corner.

But the guests' joy only lasted seven minutes. After a free kick from Hofer, who had just been substituted, Florian Pichler nodded the ball into the far corner. This restored the stalemate. Hofer had to leave the field injured just 60 seconds after his assist (and after a total of four minutes of playing time). Because the Mortiners had already exhausted the substitution quota, the Passeirians had to make do with ten men in the remaining minutes.

But Naturns couldn't take advantage of their numerical superiority and the score remained 1-1. It was the ninth draw in the 31st derby between these two clubs, with 13 wins for Naturns and nine for St. Martin.
