Charity game: Zidane isn't the only one playing in Meran

Anyone who follows football events even on the sidelines knows them, the two stars of Real Madrid: Zinédine Zidane, three times named FIFA World Player of the Year, 1998 World Cup winner with the French national team and currently coach of Real Madrid, and Karim Benzema , striker for the “Royal”. Many football fans dream of seeing the two exceptional athletes play live. This dream will become a reality on Saturday, June 10th at 18 p.m. On the natural grass field of the Combi Stadium on Shooter Street, the Italian judges' team will play against the parliamentarians' eleven, with Zidane and Benzema kicking along. Zidane's 22-year-old son Enzo, who made his Real Madrid debut in the victorious Copa del Rey game against Leonesa in November, will also be there, as will Bafetimbi Gomis from Olympique Marseille.

"Zidane and his family are regular guests at the Palace Hotel. Every year in June he spends a whole week's holiday here. The idea of organizing a charity football match to show our solidarity with the earthquake victims in central Italy came to us quite spontaneously," explained Chenot .

Donations for the earthquake victims in central Italy

There will be space for a total of 2.000 spectators in the stands of the Combi sports field. Admission is free, but a voluntary donation is very welcome. The net proceeds will be donated to the communities in central Italy that were hit by the earthquake in 2016.

“For this purpose, the municipality of Merano will provide an amount of 10.000 euros and will entrust this to Guido Rispoli, the public prosecutor of Molise,” explained Mayor Paul Rösch. “Rispoli knows the needs of local citizens best and knows exactly how these financial resources are well invested,” said Rösch. “We will communicate in a very transparent manner at a press conference after the game how much we have collected and how we have raised it will spend the money,” confirmed Rispoli.
