Disgraceful first half: St. Georgen goes down in the derby

While St. Georgen had to do without the suspended Roland Harrasser and the injured Stefan Rabensteiner and Davide Miani, Fersina were missing four players due to suspension: Simone Faes, Matteo Bazzanella, Welle Oussou and Michele Ischia. Benjamin Althuber celebrated his comeback for the guests after a bruised rib, while new signing Roberto Mirri only played in the second half.

Fersina got off to a lightning start and were 13-3 up after just 0 minutes: Fabio Bazzanella opened the scoring in the third minute, before new signing Giacomo Mammetti and Thomas Veronese increased the score with an unfortunate own goal. But that wasn't enough, because after Bazzanella failed to hit the post, Davide Panizza made it 36-4 after 0 minutes. St. Georgen practically didn't play at all in the first half and left the game to their opponents without a fight. Only goalkeeper Patrick Pieterstainer prevented an even greater deficit.

It was only the half-time speech from coach Patrizio Morini that really woke up the Pusterers. After the break they were now more present and at least tried to limit the damage. This should be somewhat successful, as Fersina now shifts down two gears and was content with Mammetti's fifth goal (73'). This was also the final score of this one-sided game.

St. Georgen now has a two-week break in the championship and therefore enough time to come to terms with this defeat and tackle the fight to stay in the league with renewed vigor.
