Bolzano “fun group” with a perfect English week

“We just have to have fun, then the victories will come by themselves.” Those were the words of Joachim Degasperi after last Sunday’s 3-1 win against SSV Brixen. And Bozen FC actually seems to be having fun with the most beautiful sideshow in the world at the moment. This was followed by a 2-0 victory for the Toccoli team in St. Pauls on Wednesday, before the “Oranges” swept away relegated Fersina 5-0 in front of their own supporters yesterday, Sunday.

Three games, three wins, nine points – Bozner FC emerged from the English Week as the most successful South Tyrolean club. “Until three or four weeks ago, things weren’t looking so good for us. After a good first half of the season, we got into a hole in the second half of the season and I honestly asked myself how we were going to get out of it. It was difficult, but we turned the corner. A compliment to our entire team and to the coaches who are resilient to crises and dealt with these negative moments with a lot of optimism,” says Andreas Canal, the sports director of Bozner FC.

The goal difference of 10:1 goals in the last three games is impressive, in which top scorer Joachim Degasperi played a key role with a total of six “boxes”. “Fabio Bertoldi is injured and could be out for a long time. So I'll have to make sure I score the goals," Jack Degasperi said after the Brixen match in which he scored a brace.

But Bolzano's defense is also playing well, as evidenced by a goal block that lasted more than 200 minutes. Of course, the program in the English week - home games against Brixen and Fersina, an away game at crisis-hit St. Pauls - also played into Bozen FC's hands. “In the top league you have to win every game first, regardless of the name of the opponent. Our defense is very stable at the moment. Andrea Donato was in action in the box in the last two games. We are lucky to have two super strong goalkeepers. Even though Donato doesn't play that often, he's always there when we need him," praises Canal.

With 34 points now, the issue of staying in the league for the Talferstadt team should be ticked off in the immediate future. Then the fun that Bozner FC has in the Sunday league kick will be even greater. “First of all, we need to get those three or four points that we still need as quickly as possible so that we can really put the relegation battle aside,” warns Canal in conclusion.
