Brazil tests: visiting fans without jerseys and their own block

In consultation with the public prosecutor's office in the city of Curitiba, first division club Atletico Paranaense will deny spectators wearing the opponent's jersey access to the Arena da Baixada for every home game starting next week. In addition, a separate block will no longer be reserved for guest supporters in the stadium, which was completely renovated for the 2014 World Cup.

“Fan clubs traveling from away received escorts far from the city, sometimes even 100 km away from the stadium. And in the city, mounted police cordoned off the streets. This will now come to an end," announced public prosecutor Maximiliano Deliberador, who cited Sao Paulo as an example. For some time now, the city derbies there have only been held in front of fans of the home teams, which, according to initial experiences, has already resulted in a significant reduction in violence and, above all, in numbers of the deployed police officers.

In Curitiba, according to the wishes of the authorities, first division team Parana Clube and former champions Coritiba FC, who were relegated to the second division, should also join the action, which is not limited for the time being. The measure will be put into practice for the first time next Wednesday in the cup game between Atletico and Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, whose fan clubs will only receive the tickets they are entitled to for randomly distributed and permanently numbered seats. According to Deliberador, there will be an evaluation of the campaign after every game.
