Brutal murder of professional football player

Daniel Correa Freitas, former midfielder of the Brazilian top club Sao Paulo and a player of Sao Bento (Serie B in Brazil) since the summer, was found dead on Sunday in a forest in Sao José dos Pinhais in the south of Brazil. As local media report, the 24-year-old was brutally murdered. The player's head was partially severed and his genitals mutilated. There are also traces that indicate that Freitas was tortured before his death.

There is currently no trace of the perpetrator. There is still no information about the motive for the crime. Freitas' former club Sao Paulo confirmed the player's death on social media.
