BVB extends long term with Watzke and Treß - Cramer appointed as additional managing director

Dortmund (SID) Bundesliga soccer team Borussia Dortmund will continue to rely on Hans-Joachim Watzke as manager in the future. The 58-year-old's contract will be extended, as will the contract of co-managing director Thomas Treß. Carsten Cramer is also appointed as additional managing director. This decision was made by the Presidential Committee of the Advisory Board of Borussia Dortmund Verwaltungs-GmbH, chaired by President Reinhard Rauball. Watzke's contract, which originally ran until December 31, 2019, will be extended early to December 31, 2022. Watzke will continue to serve as CEO. Under his leadership, the Black and Yellows' sales will break the half-billion-euro barrier this financial year. Treß's contract, previously limited to June 30, 2020, will be extended early to June 30, 2022. The previous authorized representative Carsten Cramer will also be appointed as an additional managing director with effect from March 1, 2018. His contract runs until June 30, 2022. "Borussia Dortmund's extraordinarily successful sporting and economic development since 2005 is inextricably linked to the work of Hans-Joachim Watzke and his managing director colleague Thomas Treß," said Rauball. The enormous relationship of trust has "continued to grow over the past 13 years. We want to express this trust in their abilities and their day-to-day commitment at an early stage by extending the contracts. Borussia Dortmund is committed to continuity," said the President of the German Football League (DFL). The enormously positive development for BVB in the areas of marketing and sales is primarily due to the high level of commitment and expertise of Carsten Cramer. Rauball: "In this respect, his promotion to management is logical and appropriate to the importance of his business areas."
