Cia and Furlan take a closer look at the “new” FCS

The mistakes of the past... Michael CIA: “...taught both us players and the club officials a lot. The team was put together more balanced and a lot of experience was brought on board. We have improved particularly in the mental area. We now approach every match like a final.”

The preparation…

Alessandro Furlan: “...it was much harder than in previous years. Physically we are now in top shape. There are few conclusions that can be drawn from the test games, but it was important to see that every player pushes his pain threshold right from the start.”

The mood in the team...

Ci: "…is excellent. The foreign players were well integrated and language and cultural barriers were quickly broken down. We also do a lot together away from the football field. Of course that brings the team together.”

The opening opponent Albinoleffe…

Furlan: “…is very difficult to calculate. At the last minute, Albinoleffe strengthened himself again. It will be a very difficult task, although we are really hungry for our first championship win.”

The task of winning over the South Tyrolean audience again...

Ci: “…must be our greatest concern. The past season has undoubtedly left its mark. You notice that the enthusiasm is somewhat lacking. Now it’s up to us to lure the fans back to the Drusus Stadium with great, successful football.”

The new guys on the team…

Furlan: “…have certainly increased the quality. We now have players in our ranks who can make the difference at any time. Coach Stroppa also brought in a breath of fresh air. The mentality in the team is completely different now.”

Farewell to Hannes Kiem...

Ci: “…is certainly a very sensitive topic. On the one hand, I feel for Hannes because I have known him for a long time and have been in close contact with him all these weeks. On the other hand, the association acts entirely in accordance with the industry's usual laws. A new chapter now begins for both sides.”

Kiem's successor as FCS captain...

Ci: "…who is that?"

Furlan (laughs): “The man with the most experience on the team! No seriously: I try to fulfill this responsible task as best as possible. As a captain, it’s important to always lead the way and pull your teammates along.”

Ci: “I think Alessandro is the right man for this role. He knows the players and the environment, and he undoubtedly has the aforementioned leadership character.”

The goal for the upcoming season…

Furlan: “...is certainly the early relegation. As soon as this is achieved, we will move towards the playoff places.”
