“Jergina’s” home debut goes wrong

The home team started very actively against Ponte San Pietro. In the sixth minute of the game, Armin Mayr took a corner, the ball went to Ziviani, but his shot went over the goal. The next chance also belonged to the “Jergina” players when Veronese beat three players in the opposing penalty area, but the ball went wide of the goal.

Then it was the guests’ turn. Risi shot from a tight angle four meters in front of the goal, but Pietersteiner was able to direct the ball out of the goal (20th). Six minutes after this action, Armin Mayr took a free kick, circled the ball delicately into the penalty area, where Bachlechner rose higher than everyone but put the header next to the box. St. Georgen tried to impose their game on the wings on the guests, but were unable to capitalize on it.

When all the players' minds were probably already at half-time tea, the guests took the lead: Riccardo Nicolosi gave Pietersteiner the advantage with a header from a free kick from eleven meters in the 45th minute. With this result we went into the changing rooms.

After the break, Stucchi had the 2-0 on his head, but he managed to head the ball from the goal line and, standing one meter from the post, next to the goal. Afterwards, Ponte San Pietro increased the score to 2-0. Perico was the goalscorer (60th).

Hope arose when Armin Mayr reduced the score to 1:2 with a penalty a quarter of an hour before the end. Obrist was knocked off his feet by a defender from the visitors. But St. Georgen weakened itself when it had to play with two men less after red cards for Thomas Veronese and Peter Mair, who had been substituted in the meantime. A player was also excluded from Ponte San Pietro. When Ruggeri scored 3-1 for the guests in the last minute of regular time, the first home defeat of the season was a done deal. After that, it was the end of this hectic game, in which the Morini team once again came up short.

A week after the 1:3 defeat at Lecco, ASC St. Georgen had to admit defeat 1:3 in front of their own Ponte San Pietro audience on the second matchday of Serie D.
