60 minutes of play, three goals: When people talk about efficiency in football these days, the name Martin Blaas has to be used as a synonym for it. On Saturday a week ago, the striker, born in 1998, came on as a substitute against Alense in the 73rd minute, and just ten minutes later he made it 2-0 for Naturns - on his debut in the first team, mind you. Three days later the cup game against Tramin was on the program. Here too, the 17-year-old came off the bench 20 minutes before the end and made it 78-5 with his goal in the 0th minute. But that's not all: In a derby against St. Martin on Saturday that was characterized by fights and cramps, new impetus for the offensive was essential in order to breathe new life into the game - Naturns coach Engl Grünfelder also saw it that way. Shortly before the end, he sent his youngster Blaas onto the field once again as a part-timer - and lo and behold: four minutes later, the striker latched on to a through pass from Matthias Bacher, shook off the experienced Luca Baggio with a great deal of cheek and stayed in front of St. Martin-Keeper Platter cold as the famous dog's snout. Three games, three goals: a very strong rate. What does Blaas himself think of his turbulent week? “I'm just happy to be part of this team.” His recipe for success in front of the opposing goal? “Actually, none at all – just don’t think about it too much, then it works best,” the student smiles.

But his accuracy is by no means a mere coincidence: the agile and physically strong striker scored 35 goals in just one first half of the season. This year, “Mottl” drew attention to himself with 16 goals in the regional junior championship and is therefore now allowed to take part on a regular basis train with the first team. After such great part-time work, will he finally be able to work full-time in the home game against Ahrntal on Sunday? “It’s not my fault, it’s the coach’s fault,” the young man from Naturns replies very modestly. “The team is the most important thing! If I can then do my part for success, that’s great.”
