SSV Brixen (Coach: Stefan Gasser)

It took a long time for the traditional Eisacktal club to get the engine up to speed this year. It wasn't until the middle of the first half of the season that the Bischofstadt team played as one would have expected from the very beginning of the technically very adept team. After all, the club had brought Stefan Gasser, one of the most successful coaches, to Brixen and poached Hansi Mair and Armin Mayr from Serie D relegated St. Georgen. Now, after the end of the first half of the season, SSV Brixen is in ninth place in the table with 21 points. “It was a mixed first half of the season. We started the season very uncertainly. One reason for this could well be that I needed time to recognize the characteristics of my players. And then there were also various episodes that, in retrospect, influenced us for longer than perhaps usual. “We never found the right balance at first, I tried and changed quite a lot,” explains Gasser.

From the middle of the first half of the season things got better, his team played very well in the last seven or eight games and also reaped what Brixen often deserved beforehand. “I would like to praise my players for their commitment. Everyone made a tremendous effort, which I actually didn't expect. The fact that I can only give us enough is partly my fault. But I evaluate our team and myself, because the coach is also part of the team. I am convinced that this first half of the season was a great enrichment for all of us and if we remain stable, then we can play a very passable second half of the season,” concluded Gasser.

Eppan (Coach: Christian Scherer)

The draw kings from Überetsch, who drew eight times (1 times 1:14 by the way), are in the middle of a relegation battle after the first half of the season. 14 points means 13th place – and two points behind the “saving” XNUMXth place that Naturns currently occupies. “It wasn't an easy first half of the season. We had several small problems in the team. The biggest difficulty was certainly the many injuries. The training options were also limited when Rungg was being rebuilt and we had to move to a smaller space in the village center. The conditions were not ideal in this regard. But as soon as we returned to Rungg, things picked up and that's why I'm convinced that we can still have a big say in staying in the league in the second half of the season," says Scherer.

He doesn't want to give his team a grade. “All I can say is that my players’ attitude was positive. As a coach, I can't give a grade at this point. That wouldn't be fair to my players. You journalists can then rate us at the end of the year, when the whole season is over,” Scherer concluded.
