With Denis Mair it's the same as with good TV series: a great season finale is followed by an at least equally spectacular start to the new series. Ten days ago, the nimble striker, who scored an outstanding 17 goals in the Serie D with Caronnese last year, was in action in the Tim Cup against Lega Pro club Matera. After half an hour, the man from Brixen grabbed the ball in the opponent's half, then sprinted past his astonished opponents like a 20-year-old in the senior 100-meter run and then finished 20 meters in front of the goal with the dryness of a crispbread at the bottom left successfully. The game against the Lega Pro club ultimately ended with a 1:2 defeat for Denis Mair & Co. But it was less the defeat that caused something like melancholy in the South Tyrolean footballer's heart, but rather the certainty that he cannot compete against such third division teams in the championship. Denis Mair's return to the Lega Pro will have to wait.

What happened? A review. In last year's championship, Caronnese led the field for a long time in District A of Serie D, but was overtaken by Sporting Bellinzago in the final sprint. However, since Bellinzago decided not to take part in the Lega Pro, Caronnese, which also won the play-off finals, would have been eligible for promotion due to its first position in the replacement rankings. “The club started renovating the stadium. Cabins and the like were adapted to Lega Pro standards,” says Denis Mair. But when the news came that only a few pieces of paper had to be filled out for promotion, the club suddenly said that the construction work would not be finished on time. The upcoming championship will therefore be held in Series D.

But I have now come to terms with it and am full of energy again for the coming season.” On September 4th, Mair, who scored an incredible 35 goals in the last two Serie D seasons, will embark on another adventure in the fourth highest league. The goal again is promotion. “Hopefully we can do it in a sporty way this time,” is the message to the competition.
