FC Südtirol remains a point supplier

FCS coach Giovanni Stroppa was able to call on all squad players for the first time in his home game debut. The last suspended man slipped into the starting line-up for Kiem. But he also failed to give the White-Reds' defense the stability it needed. This became particularly evident in the 38th minute, when one of Giana's few chances to score promptly resulted in the lead. After a cross from Augello, Rossini was able to head in unhindered. Goalkeeper Melgrati didn't look happy in this scene either. Until then, FC Südtirol had had more of the game, but remained far too harmless in their forward movement. Tait fired the only warning shot shortly before half-time.

FCS without a game concept

Even after the break, the home team couldn't set any accents, but Giana kept trying to go on the offensive. In the 54th minute, a corner from the extremely strong Gasbarroni led to the Lombards' second goal: The advanced Simone Perico beat Melgrati and headed it in to make it 2-0. Anyone who expected a defiant reaction from the White-Reds was bitterly disappointed, as Stoppa's protégés didn't have a single significant chance to score. They only got in front of the opposing goal in the final minutes, but the defeat could no longer be shaken.
