FC Südtirol is upgrading its attack

The 23-year-old striker from Taranto, who can also act as a hanging striker, wing or attacking midfielder, signed a two-year contract with FC Südtirol until June 30, 2019. Last year, the young attacker made his big breakthrough with Monopoli in the Lega Pro.

As a footballer, Gatto was trained in the youth sector of Lecce (up to the Berretti team). He gained his first experience as a professional footballer in the 2012/13 season with Martina Franca in Serie C2, before moving to Taranto in Serie D in the winter of the same year (6 appearances). The highlight of that season was the Viareggio Cup, which he played with the Serie D team. His strong performances during the tournament opened the doors for him to Hellas Verona, where he scored an outstanding 20 goals in 31 games with the Primavera team the following season.

In the 2014/15 season he played the first half of the season with Modena in Serie B (3 appearances in the championship and another 2 in the Italian Cup) and the second half of the season with Pordenone in Serie C1 (6 appearances).

In the following season he also hunted for goals in the third highest Italian league, namely for Juve Stabia. In Campania, Gatto made a total of 19 appearances (two assists in the championship and two goals in the Italian Cup).

Last season he made his final breakthrough at Monopoli in the Lega Pro: 35 appearances, 6 goals and 2 assists (another goal in the Lega Pro Italian Cup) are evidence of his extremely positive development. Gatto is not yet in the squad for Sunday's game against AlbinoLeffe.

FC Südtirol is upgrading its attack
