FC Südtirol beats itself

On Saturday evening it was no different in the first game of the new year at FeralpiSalò - also because goalkeeper Marcone opened the doors to a 1-0 victory for the otherwise harmless home team with a misfire when he let a harmless long-range shot from Gambaretti pass. FC Südtirol, which played in a 4-3-1-2 system with Obodo, Cia and new signing Broh playing in midfield while Tulli played behind Spagnoli-Gliozzi, was then the better team. But the optical field superiority, including some great opportunities, was of no use. First, a follow-up shot from Spagnoli just missed the Feralpi goal, then Broh combined beautifully with Gliozzi in front of the goal, but showed nerves and shot wide.

Shortly after the break, Gliozzi narrowly missed the equalizer with a header before Cia had the best chance for the FCS: a punch from Feralpi keeper Livieri landed right at his feet, but an opposing defender scratched the beautiful lob off the line. A little later, Tait's long-range shot just grazed it. The longer the game lasted and the more pressure FCS applied, the more playful and unimaginative they appeared in front of the opponent's penalty area. So it was the White-Reds' ninth defeat of the season.
